Composition in Two Genres

On October 27th, 2018, 17 people were shot in a synagogue in Pittsburgh. Eleven of those 17 people were Jewish and were killed while praying due to the Antisemitic attack by Robert Bowers. The other 6 people were fatally injured. Four of those six were police officers. On Saturday morning of October 27th, 2018, a gunman walked into the Synagogue with an assault rifle and several handguns and yelled out “All Jews must die.” This man was Robert Bowers. This was an Antisemitic act of terrorism. After finally surrendering, Bowers told the police that he wanted all Jews to die and that they were committing genocide against his people.
On June 14th, 2021, the Senate of our Government passed a law for the better of the Jewish people in America. This law resolves to continue active involvement with Antisemitism, have more classes in school that talk about the Holocaust, increase the security of Jewish institutions and/or organizations, and show the country the level of threats Antisemitism poses to the people of America. This is a huge step in getting the word out there that Jews are people too, and everyone should be treated equally, whether they are Jewish, black, Spanish, Latinx, etc.

Rational

So, I’m sure what you are wondering is “why is the writer using these specific genres? Why not use other sources of showing us Antisemitism and preventing it?” Well, the answer to this question is quite simple. Of course, using these two genres will convince the reader that the purpose of this is to show and prevent antisemitism in the world. Yes, I could have used other sources like The Holocaust, but it’s been over 60 years since it happened. I chose these sources because it’s recent. Using these sources proves my purpose that antisemitism needs to stop. By using recent events, I am hoping for the readers to look more into antisemitism towards Jews in the past. There are a couple of reasons why I didn’t use The Holocaust for my genres. The first reason is that not everyone believes that it happened. The thing is it did happen. There’s proof all over the internet. There are documentaries, books, and interviews by Holocaust survivors. Last April, I had a very insightful and emotional experience. I went to Poland for a week to learn in-depth and to see how my people suffered at the hands of some piece of garbage.  The second reason why I didn’t use The Holocaust, is because it happened so long ago. I didn’t want the readers to think that antisemitism hasn’t occurred since then. So by using the two above genres, it shows that antisemitism still exists and is working on being stopped.
